Albino Ape
"Set in the middle of the great, white head of this ape are two red eyes that gleam with a savage intellect. Snowy white fur covers the ape's hulking frame. It lifts an enormous fist and beats its chest in fury as you approach."
Lonesome and typically non-hostile, the albino apes are a mysterious, curious grouping of critters who roam through the jungles of Qud collecting trinkets and artifacts. There is limited evidence to suggest the apes understand the workings or even the meanings of what they uncover. For this reason, caution is advised upon approaching these beasts; there is just as much chance of these beasts carrying a bunch of scrolls, as there is that they have fully functioning grenades primed.
Baboon
"From atop its sunning boulder, this small monkey peers at you with eyes full of curiosity. Two puffs of grey fur billow out from either side of its face."
Found amongst the rust wells on the periphery of the salt marshes, the baboons are often found in packs. Their temperament is aggressive and although their attacks are not particularly dangerous, a group of angry, stone throwing bundles of muscles are to be treated with care. More intelligent baboons are said to worship the mysterious Oboroqoru, a god amongst their kind.
Bloated Pearlfrog
"Depigmented belly skin is tumefied with crushed insect matter into a gigantic and ripe pearl. Its legs have been resorbed by fat; the art of jumping mastered by its forebears survives only through ancestral memory."
These large frogs are more than capable of overwhelming an unwary traveller with their sticky tongues and powerful bites. Hunted by the marsh-folk for their pearlescent bellies; these small beasts are sometimes traded as a valuable commodity.
Cannibal
"This stout human's bare skin is pallid from years of abstaining from sunlight. His eyes are glazed and beastial; isolation has rendered him more of a beast than a man."
There is something particularly foul about the cannibal troupes that rove the warrens of the nether-regions of Qud. These troglodytic post-humans are a cruel and feral people often armed with simple clubs. Not particularly dangerous on their own, these cunning animalistic beings will often try to overwhelm an unwary wandered with sheer numbers; advancing with pale, unblinking eyes and blood-stained maws.
Cave Spider
"Spindle-limbed, brown, and skittish, it spins a home anxiously."
These scuttling arachnids are often the cause of the thick, sticky webs that festoon the underground passages throughout Qud. Cave spiders are wary of other beings and will often strive to maintain a healthy distance. That said, woe betided anyone who becomes ensnared in their webs.
Chrome Pyramid
"A mountainous pyramid of chrome hovers about you. The volume around it appears furrowed somehow, and sound only comes through in waves; it's as though space and time themselves were crumpled away before the thing's very presence."
The Chrome Pyramid is a mysterious relic of the before-times, a terrible weapon able to devastate entite cities. Only the very most prepared traveller should ever consider traversing the lands beholden to a Chrome Pyramid. These monoliths are armed with a wide array of arcane weapons systems, you WILL be killed by one unless you're bringing some serious firepower.
